Over 20 members from around Battalion 6 attended shipboard firefighting school through Texas A&M. Members traveling to the school participated in a five day comprehensive course that included classroom lectures and hands on firefighting. The class was paid for through a Port Security Grant.
"This was a great opportunity" says Captain Jim Porter from Fire Station 85-B. "There are many of us new to the battalion that haven't had this exposure. It was an eye opener. My team from 85's found it highly beneficial" Porter said.
